Loop Indicator
A control loop at a glance: process value, setpoint, output, controller mode and deviation.
In Studio
In Studio, double-click Loop Indicator in the Components category of the Components panel. It is added to the open view, where you can drag it into place.
When to use
Use Loop Indicator for a PID loop on a faceplate or in a row of loops. Pick horizontal for rows, deviation for tight loops where only the error matters. It is the base of the PID Faceplate template.
Properties
| Property | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Style | bars, horizontal, deviation | bars | How it looks: bars (default, PV / SP / OUT columns with mode and deviation), horizontal (one PV track with the setpoint tick, the values and an OUT bar) or deviation (a bar centered on the setpoint). |
| Label | String | Loop | The loop name shown with the mode (e.g. TIC-102). |
| PV | String | (none) | The process value. Bind it to the loop's PV tag. |
| SP | String | (none) | The setpoint. Bind it to the loop's SP tag. |
| OUT | String | (none) | The controller output. Bind it to the loop's OUT tag. |
| Mode | String | (none) | The controller mode (a number or text). Bind it to the loop's mode tag. |
| Mode Names | String | Manual,Auto | Names for the mode: by position (Manual,Auto) or by value (0=Manual,1=Auto,2=Cascade). An unlisted value shows as it is. |
| PV Min | Number | 0 | Low end of the PV and SP scale. |
| PV Max | Number | 100 | High end of the PV and SP scale. |
| OUT Min | Number | 0 | Low end of the output scale. |
| OUT Max | Number | 100 | High end of the output scale. |
| Normal Low | String | (none) | Low edge of the normal band drawn behind the PV. Blank hides the band. |
| Normal High | String | (none) | High edge of the normal band. |
| Deviation Scale (+/-) | String | (none) | Half the width of the deviation scale (the deviation style). Blank is 10 % of the PV range. |
| Deviation Limit | String | (none) | When the deviation (PV minus SP) is larger than this in either direction, it takes the Deviation Priority color. Blank never colors it. |
| Deviation Priority | 1, 2, 3, 4 | 2 | The alarm priority color used past the Deviation Limit: 1 red, 2 orange, 3 yellow, 4 purple. |
| Unit | String | (none) | The unit shown after the deviation. |
| Value Format | String | {:.1f} | A Python-style format string for PV, SP and deviation (default {:.1f}). |
| OUT Format | String | {:.0f} | A Python-style format string for the output (default {:.0f}). |
Binding
This component has no single value binding.
Read-only. An unknown value draws no bar and reads ---, never zero. Bad or stale quality hatches the whole indicator and blanks the values.
